This book covers the exam objectives in the new CCIE Routing and Switching Written Exam #350-001 as updated in August 2002. Cisco Press works directly with the CCIE team at Cisco Systems to develop materials that are accurate and up to date. The topics covered in this new CCIE exam are matched by the contents of CCIE Routing and Switching Exam Certification Guide. The first topic listed on the exam blueprint, Cisco Device Operation, is covered in Chapter 3. General Networking theory is addressed in Chapter 2. Readers can find detailed information on Bridging and LAN Switching in Chapter 4. Internet Protocol is covered in Chapter 6, while IP Routing Protocols are covered in Chapters 7 through 10. Coverage of Desktop Protocols can be found in Chapter 12. Chapter 11 addresses QoS, and LAN and WAN material is located in chapters 4 and 5, respectively. About the Author
A. Anthony Bruno, CCIE #2738, is a Principal Consultant with International Network Services (INS) and a networking instructor for the University of Phoenix-Online, with over 11 years experience in internetworking. His other network certifications include CCDP, CWNA, MCSE, NNCSS, CCSE, and CNX in Ethernet. He has worked on the design, implementation, and optimization of large enterprise networks, wireless LANs, Voice over IP, and Internet access. He completed his MSEE from University of Missouri-Rolla in 1994 and his BSEE from University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez in 1990. Anthony is the author of CCIE Routing and Switching Exam Certification Guide, the co-author of CCDA Exam Certification Guide, and a contributor and the lead technical reviewer of Network Design and Case Studies, Second Edition, all from Cisco Press. He also performed technical reviews of the Cisco Press titles CID Exam Certification Guide and Internetworking Troubleshooting Handbook.
